Periodicaled : Unsaid

...

Embarrassingly late in reporting this one: Unsaid recently published my interview with Kamby Bolongo Mean River author, Robert Lopez. You can read that thisaway. Blaming my Johnny-come-lately syndrome on the winter doldrums, though also an all-consuming fascination with Antarctica, which creates a kind of mental snow blindness.

In other Unsaid news, the release of their brobdingnagian new issue is nearly here. Pre-orders are being taken. A list of contributors in circulation. My story, "Fatal Accidents, Not Necessarily Complete" will be in there, among many, many other fine displays of word dissidence. Thrilled and humbled to be a part of the conspiracy.

Periodicaled : Spork Press

...

A happy exit to 2011. The fine folks at Spork have published a piece of mine entitled, "On: The Nothings." You can read that right here.
"The Nothings" is an excerpt from a longerish project I'm working on about television. I'm scheduled to do an interview with Spork in the near future, which means, perhaps, a little clarification/needless complication on precisely what I mean by television.

Mountains and Sea

"There is no 'always.' No formula. There are no rules. Let the picture lead you where it must go."
Helen Frankenthaler (1928 - 2011)

...

The more I look into Frankenthaler's work, the more I hear this song. Both make me feel as if I'm being watered down.

A Chainless mind

“How ya doin'?' I always think, What kind of a question is that?, and I always reply, 'A bit early to tell.”
Christopher Hitchens 1949-2011

...

Here's to a man who believed in the beauty of a chainless mind.

Periodicaled: Hoarse

...

The fine folks at Hoarse have accepted some writing of mine for their upcoming professor-themed issue. The piece is called "Norming" and is inspired by the instructions that often precede standardized tests. A release party will be happening this Sunday at the College Inn Pub from 11am to 4pm. I should be there, alongside many other tweed-and-pipe-trimmed folks. More info is thisaway.
